Got it several years ago with discount. It's i5 3317. Good enough for everyday ordinary use. Only drag back is NO BLUETOOTH.

Not sure what most of you are talking about. I bought this laptop (i3) June 2013.

And even since then It has been working like a gem, if you expect it to do more than what the hardware is capable of then you're the problem, not the laptop.

I've never had a blue screen, never had random shut down or restarts and the best part is that it's still in pristine condition. I wish it had higher capability for gaming or had a faster processor but it can handle up to medium level processing power and as far as gaming goes, I can play left 4 dead two, and CS GO no problem.

It still a great simple laptop for students or business professionals who want the style and base performance of an ultra book with an affordable price tag!

Cheers to all,

So far I have no major complaints about this laptop except that I cannot upgrade the RAM.  I have not experienced any of the complaints listed above.  Perhaps they got a lemon?  I'm quite happy with mine!

I got this laptop as a present so I can't really return it.. But never made the worst decision in your life. I can't even use 2 youtube browser at the same time. It is very slow compare to my old 3 years old laptop which only has an i3 core intel processor. Disappointment. I will never buy anything from Asus again. >:(

I have the core i5 version which I got on clearance for around $400.00. It has been a solid laptop for the past few weeks. For those interested this unit can run  Ubuntu Linux 13.10 perfectly, without any addition tweaks, in fact, the touchscreen works as well!

I also want to install Ubuntu, but I fear that Bios(UEFI) or (firmware board- Bios) inoperable to install ubuntu. On this page http://www.linlap.com/asus_vivobook_s300ca . Say that Keyboard buttons for wireless on / off (FN + F2) and the "<>" key at the top right corner are not working out of the box. and had problems (touchscreen, bluetooth, wireless ...) Can you tell me how you do with these problems? You used some tutorial to install?. I would appreciate if you can help

I bought this laptop mid 2013 and I must say it was the worst decision I have made. It constantly freezes and shuts down. If you open more than a few basic programs like acrobat, word and the internet then a blue screen pops up and the computer restarts. After going through the service centre and refreshing the whole laptop, it continues to restart and I lose a lot of data.

If you have to pay a bit more for another laptop or a bit less for an older model, then go for it because this laptop IS NOT WORTH IT!

Hello,

The review model uses a 7 mm Hitachi and will not support larger 9.5 mm drives

Does a regular 2.5 inch drive fit or do you need to get a slim drive?

Entry-level Touch Device. An elegant aluminium case, economic ULV hardware, long battery life - the VivoBook S300CA possesses many advantages of expensive Ultrabooks, but is already available for under 600 Euros. As the icing on the cake, a touchscreen was incorporated, which is meant to set it apart from the competition.
