Solid laptop in general for desktop use, however 9-cell battery failed after 2 yrs, and regular hand pressure on lower left surface (left of track pad) causes cursor and screen jump. Nice, wide screen, but heavy and power-hungry unit overall. Best for non-mobile, desktop use.

Old topic, but just want to say I got this computer 6 years ago and it is still working well.

I just got this laptop recently and it's a HUGE disappointment!

Though its characteristics may sound appealing solely, the graphics are worse than the 10++ year old compaq I used to own (and thankfully hadn't thrown away). Even the i7 processor and 16gb RAM (that I bought, in order to take full advantage of the laptop's potential) didn't add anything to the overall performance.
Due to graphics issues, it won't run half the programs in decent resolution and won't install the other half.
Even the simplest games on facebook aren't working properly and it cannot show a 600mb movie without pixelating.

Plus it heats up to the point you cannot even come close to the plastic around the usb ports. Lastly, the touchpad works great for a frying pan.
And I bought one of the best coolers in the market for this laptop......

It's a pity I spent all of my money on it and I am stack with it until I can afford another one.

Despite being a relatively dated review I still do want to comment.  I find that the few comments that have been published dont quite justified one of the better Dell machines.  I do find that the E6530 is a better build machine that its successor E6540.  For the quad-core i7 with Nvidia it is more responsive than the later E6540 and I still recommend the E6530 over its successor for the few user that care to take my advice, if one can be found that is.  Even used, its is of better value.  Sadly I dont think we are gonna see more laptop build as the 6x30 series that had been produced by Dell.  By my reckoning the series is gonna outlive many of their peers from other manufacturers.

Excellent choice for a business premium class laptop. Offers many options i.e. caddy for a 2nd hdd instead of the optical dvd, slice 9 cell battery for an additional 5-6 hours for a total of min. 10 hours without a charger!!! I have upgraded mine to a 256gb ssd Samsung 830 series and 16gb RAM (always with a 64 bit O.S.) The 6530 will "eat up" several heavy tasks at the same time. No problems experienced for the last 18 months. By the way it has a spill proof keyboard!!

I am using Dell Latitude E6530 Notebook with no problems.

Not so light weight, but powerful. I mostly utilize it as a desktop replacement with double (external) monitors, works well...

I'm using this laptop for about a year and i've experienced serious problems:
- two hard disks changed in three months... with data loss!
- the screen was loosely attached at delivery
- i still have a problem of electric chock while touching the metal part of the cover

I have got a new one...There is no obvious reason, the cursor will jump to locations within or outside of the random locations as you type. There is no solution for that. Dell sais is a problem of software and they don't give the solution, as it's reported for a lot of people. Look for that on the net... Don't buy it.

Hi,

The Latitude E6540 (Haswell + Radeon HD 8790M) is now available.
I hope there will be a review soon.

Thanks for the good work.

Business premium. The Dell Latitude belongs to the high-end business class and must meet the especially high standards of quality, functionality, and expandability. Most professional users expect a good display, an adequate performance, and solid mobility. Our detailed review will show whether the current Dell Latitude E6530 is up to the task at hand.
