Review Samsung Series 7 Gamer 700G7C Notebook
« am: Juli 27, 2012, 09:10:48 »
Noble gamer. Samsung extends its Series 7 with a gaming notebook that offers high-end performance owing to Intel's i7 quad-core processor, Nvidia's GeForce GTX 675M graphics and a total of 16 GB RAM. Moreover, a Blu-Ray drive, elegant piano lacquer looks and illuminated elements are appropriate for a high-quality device that is not exactly cheap.

Nice Review as usual, but there is one thing I need to say.  In the Graphics Card section of your article you say "Alienware's notebook scores only marginally, but nevertheless higher than Samsung's gamer.".  You're referring to the Alienware notebook M17xR4 with the 7970M.  The 7970M graphics card is 70% faster than the 675M in your Samsung notebook you have on review, I definately wouldn't call that 'marginally' faster, more like SIGNIFICANTLY faster!  On this same topic, in the last paragraph of your article you refer to the Alienware M17xR4 with 7970M again, saying that it has only "slightly stronger Radeon graphics" for a few hundred euros more than your Samsung notebook; again, the 7970M is 70% faster than your notebook in review here, which is a HUGE difference at this level of performance, and well worth a few hundred euros in a high end gaming notebook.

In my opinion if you're going to buy a high end gaming notebook now, avoid the 675M (aka 580M), and get the 7970M, unless the notebook with the last generation 675M graphics card is SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper.

I own this laptop, I just have a few comments about the review.

I have no had mine get as hot as this one appears to get under gaming load. Maybe this is some far worst case scenario. I can definitely vouch for the fan being extremely quiet at 100% though.

Why is there no color accuracy test in the display section here like every other laptop? Can you guys add that back in as long as you haven't sent the unit back to Samsung already?

The 680M and 7970M are far and away faster than the 675M. Let me just state that the 675M is no slouch and can play most games out today at Ultra in 1080p with a few exceptional cases and a few specific advanced graphics settings on some games. I think it may have been understated a little how much faster the 7970M is though. At stock clocks on the same (3610QM Ivy Bridge CPU) the 7970M is around 61% faster in 3DMark 11. I don't know if that translates directly to games but I would imagine it's a decent approximation. With swings between 30% to 80% depending on if the game just runs better on one brand or the other.
